Siblingship Test (brother/sister)
Price: £249.00*
Testing: Two alleged siblings
Timeframe: 4 working days from receipt of swabs
by our laboratory

This DNA test determines the statistical probability of whether siblings (brothers and sisters) share the same two parents or not. The relationship between alleged siblings (full or half) can be established with 15% exclusion and 90% inclusion conclusivity.

When the issue of siblingship is in question, the recommended method to determine whether individuals are true biological siblings is to test their parents. In situations where the alleged parents are unavailable for testing, a siblingship DNA test can be performed to analyze the relationship of biological siblings. Including one common parent greatly increases the accuracy of this type of DNA analysis and is recommended if at all possible.

Y-STR Male Lineage DNA Test
Price: £299.00*
Testing: Two males
Timeframe: 4 working days from receipt of swabs by our laboratory

Y-STR Male Lineage Paternity TestThe Y-STR male lineage DNA test is used to determine whether two or more males are related through their paternal lineage. The Y chromosome is passed from father to son and has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, thus it remains the same through many generations.

This DNA test focuses on the Y chromosome and results in a unique Y-STR profile for each male tested. It is important to note that this DNA test will not differentiate between men that are in the same paternal lineage.

For example, if a male child "A" and his alleged half brother Child "B" (Child "B" having a different mother than Child "A") want to know if they have the same biological father, and they have the same Y-STR DNA profile, it is practically proven that they share the same father. If the profiles do not match, then they do not share the same biological father.

This is just one of many circumstances in which the Y-STR DNA test can be applied. Review the chart above as a guide. Please contact us for more information.

X-SV Female Lineage DNA Test
Price: £399.00*
Testing: Two applicants with shared maternal lineage
Timeframe: 10 working days from receipt of swabs by our laboratory

X-SV Female Lineage Paternity TestThe X-SV female lineage DNA test is used to determine whether two or more females are related through their maternal lineage, or if male and/or female children have the same biological mother. The Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation is passed from females to their children and has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, thus it remains the same through many generations. (Males do not pass the X-SV they inherited from their mother to their children).

This DNA test focuses on the Mitochondrial DNA and results in a unique X-SV profile for each individual tested. It is important to note that this test will not differentiate women that are in the same maternal lineage or children with the same mother.

For example, if a female Child "A" and her alleged half brother Child "B" (Child "B" having a different father than Child "A") want to know if they have the same maternal biological grandmother, and they have the same X-SV profile, it is very likely that they are of the same maternal lineage. If the X-SV profiles do not match, then they neither share the same maternal biological grandmother, nor do they share the same maternal lineage.

This is just one of many circumstances in which the X-SV test can be applied. Review the chart to the right as a guide. Please contact us for more information.

Missing Parent DNA Test
Price: £299.00*

Avuncular DNA Test (grandparent/aunt/uncle)
Price: £249.00*
Testing: Child and alleged grandparent/aunt/uncle
Timeframe: 4 working days from receipt of swabs
by our laboratory

This DNA test can be used to assess genes from the paternal (or maternal) side of the family, even when DNA from the alleged father (or mother) is unavailable, by establishing a link between the DNA of a child and the DNA of an alleged grandparent, aunt or uncle. It is important to note that grandparents, aunts and uncles will have only one quarter of their genes in common with a child, whereas parents and children have half their genes in common. Because of this two-fold dilution of genes, the test cannot achieve as accurate results as a parent-offspring DNA test. Nonetheless, it will provide a numerical probability for the alleged familial relationship.

Cousin DNA Test
Price: £N/A*
Testing: Cousins
Timeframe: N/A

It is not possible to compare the DNA profiles of two individuals and reliably confirm if they are first cousins. Reputable DNA testing companies generally do not undertake first cousin analysis by testing just two people because the results are very likely to cloud the matter rather than clarify it. Please contact us for more information about alternative tests.

"Thank you ever so much for the good news you gave me today. I have been so worried and have not slept well for months with anxiety. From the minute I made initial enquiries about your service to the minute I received my results, I have been treated with dignity and did not feel judged in any way. After a very difficult period in my life, it was just the treatment I needed.

I had a look at the chart, but its double dutch to me. All I know is the result is positive and I can now get on with planning for this little boy and giving my marriage the honesty it deserves. The doctor I saw was lovely too, and made me feel very relaxed and has now sent me a report confirming that the baby has no known deformities etc.

When I rang you today, I had just had a scan at the Ella Gordon unit in Portsmouth, and was about to sign the legal papers to terminate the pregnancy. I went back into the waiting room and told the receptionist I'd changed my mind, I think they thought I was mad as I was in floods of tears, but they were tears of joy. Thank you so very very much for everything, I know I will sleep soundly tonight."
