Click here to order your DNA testSiblingship Test (brother/sister)
Price: £249.00
Testing: Two alleged siblings
Timeframe: THE NEXT WORKING DAY AFTER WE RECEIVE YOUR SAMPLES AT OUR UK OFFICE

This DNA test determines the statistical probability of whether siblings (brothers and sisters) share the same two parents or not. The relationship between alleged siblings (full or half) can be established with 15% exclusion and 90% inclusion conclusivity.

When the issue of siblingship is in question, the recommended method to determine whether individuals are true biological siblings is to test their parents. In situations where the alleged parents are unavailable for testing, a siblingship DNA test can be performed to analyze the relationship of biological siblings. Including one common parent greatly increases the accuracy of this type of DNA analysis and is recommended if at all possible (at extra cost). If this is not possible, disclosing that siblings share a common mother or father can also lead to more meaningful results.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When testing male siblings to determine whether or not they share a common father, a Y-STR Male Lineage DNA Test may provide a more conclusive result. If siblings are trying to determine whether or not they share the same maternal lineage, an X-SV DNA Test may provide a more conclusive result. Please contact us for more information.

Click here to order your DNA test Y-STR Male Lineage DNA Test
Price: £249.00
Testing: Two males
Timeframe: 4 working days from receipt of swabs at our UK office

Y-STR Male Lineage Paternity TestThe Y-STR male lineage DNA test is used to determine whether two or more males are related through their paternal lineage. The Y chromosome is passed from father to son and has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, thus it remains the same through many generations.

This DNA test focuses on the Y chromosome and results in a unique Y-STR profile for each male tested. It is important to note that this DNA test will not differentiate between men that are in the same paternal lineage.

For example, if a male child "A" and his alleged half brother Child "B" (Child "B" having a different mother than Child "A") want to know if they have the same biological father, and they have the same Y-STR DNA profile, it is practically proven that they share the same father. If the profiles do not match, then they do not share the same biological father.

This is just one of many circumstances in which the Y-STR DNA test can be applied. Review the chart above as a guide. Please contact us for more information.

Click here to order your DNA testX-SV Female Lineage DNA Test
Price: £329.00
Testing: Two applicants with shared maternal lineage

Timeframe: 15 working days from receipt of swabs at our UK office

X-SV Female Lineage Paternity TestThe X-SV female lineage DNA test is used to determine whether two or more females are related through their maternal lineage, or if male and/or female children have the same biological mother. The Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation is passed from females to their children and has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, thus it remains the same through many generations. (Males do not pass the X-SV they inherited from their mother to their children).

This DNA test focuses on the Mitochondrial DNA and results in a unique X-SV profile for each individual tested. It is important to note that this test will not differentiate women that are in the same maternal lineage or children with the same mother.

For example, if a female Child "A" and her alleged half brother Child "B" (Child "B" having a different father than Child "A") want to know if they have the same maternal biological grandmother, and they have the same X-SV profile, it is very likely that they are of the same maternal lineage. If the X-SV profiles do not match, then they neither share the same maternal biological grandmother, nor do they share the same maternal lineage.

This is just one of many circumstances in which the X-SV test can be applied. Review the chart to the right as a guide. Please contact us for more information.

Price: £329.00
Testing: Two females
Timeframe: within 17-21 working days of receipt of DNA samples at our UK office

If they have different mothers, they can carry out the test without the inclusion of the mother's sample.

In an X chromosome test we analyse a total of 10 genetic markers. To read more about our X chromosome test click here.

Click here to order your DNA test Avuncular DNA Test(grandparent/aunt/uncle)
Price: £249.00
Testing: Child and alleged grandparent/aunt/uncle
Timeframe: THE NEXT WORKING DAY AFTER WE RECEIVE YOUR SAMPLES AT OUR UK OFFICE

This DNA test can be used to assess genes from the paternal (or maternal) side of the family, even when DNA from the alleged father (or mother) is unavailable, by establishing a link between the DNA of a child and the DNA of an alleged grandparent, aunt or uncle. It is important to note that grandparents, aunts and uncles will have only one quarter of their genes in common with a child, whereas parents and children have half their genes in common. Because of this two-fold dilution of genes, the test cannot achieve as accurate results as a parent-offspring DNA test. Nonetheless, it will provide a numerical probability for the alleged familial relationship.

Cousin DNA Test
Price: £N/A
Testing: Cousins
Timeframe: N/A

It is not possible to compare the DNA profiles of two individuals and reliably confirm if they are first cousins. Reputable DNA testing companies generally do not undertake first cousin analysis by testing just two people because the results are very likely to cloud the matter rather than clarify it. Please contact us for more information about alternative tests.

Price: £399.00 (+ private clinic sampling fee)
Testing: Child, mother and alleged father samples
Timeframe: within 5-7 working days of receipt of DNA samples at our UK office

Prior to a child's birth, International Biosciences can perform a prenatal DNA paternity test using DNA samples taken during the early stages of pregnancy (11-23 weeks). The unborn baby's DNA samples must be collected by an obstetrician or gynaecologist at a private clinic using either a CVS or an amniocentesis procedure. These procedures collect and cultivate cells containing DNA from the unborn child. Please contact us for more information or click on the following links:

"Thank you ever so much for the good news you gave me today. I have been so worried and have not slept well for months with anxiety. From the minute I made initial enquiries about your service to the minute I received my results, I have been treated with dignity and did not feel judged in any way. After a very difficult period in my life, it was just the treatment I needed.

I had a look at the chart, but its double dutch to me. All I know is the result is positive and I can now get on with planning for this little boy and giving my marriage the honesty it deserves. The doctor I saw was lovely too, and made me feel very relaxed and has now sent me a report confirming that the baby has no known deformities etc.

When I rang you today, I had just had a scan at the Ella Gordon unit in Portsmouth, and was about to sign the legal papers to terminate the pregnancy. I went back into the waiting room and told the receptionist I'd changed my mind, I think they thought I was mad as I was in floods of tears, but they were tears of joy. Thank you so very very much for everything, I know I will sleep soundly tonight."

Price: £299.00
Testing: One item, e.g. underwear
Timeframe: within 7 working days of receipt of DNA samples at our UK office

Is your partner cheating on you? Did you find a suspicious article of clothing such as stained underwear or other object?

International Biosciences can provide you conclusive answers through DNA Infidelity Testing. DNA testing typically provides conclusive results that confirm or deny the presence of male and/or female DNA on suspicious items where the DNA source is unknown, unseen or potentially mixed. Once conclusive results are obtained, International Biosciences can also run powerful DNA comparative analyses to identify the source of the DNA.

For an additional fee of £89* per sample we can also match the DNA profile obtained against DNA from mouth swab samples to establish who it belongs to.

DNA Testing and The Human Tissue Act

Note: Due to the Human Tissue Act, International Biosciences is unable to test samples belonging to any test participants without their informed consent. Any test participant submitting a DNA sample must sign our consent form authorising us to test their sample. Children under the legal age of consent can have their legal guardian or parent/s sign on their behalf.

The Human Tissue Act also requires that the person from which the DNA sample has been collected be made fully aware of what their DNA sample will be used for. The absence of any form of refusal, comment or assent does not signify consent.

COURT APPROVED PATERNITY TESTING:

The laboratory testing processes for Court Approved and Peace of Mind DNA tests are exactly the same. The difference is that Court Approved tests require a witness, proof of identity and special chain of custody procedures. A Peace of Mind DNA Test is not legally binding because there is no proof that samples have been collected from the correct participants.

The Peace of Mind test is intended to be a discreet and private way of allowing families to resolve any questions without involving other parties. The Court Approved DNA tests require that an independent witness, such as a GP or health professional, oversees the sample collection process and is able to verify photo ID and maintain chain of custody.

All Court Approved DNA Test requests will be referred to our sister company, Genetic Testing Laboratories who have been accredited by the Ministry of Justice as a body that may carry out parentage tests directed by the civil courts in England and Wales under section 20 of the Family Law Reform Act 1969.
