Tribal DNA Analysis is a statistical comparison of an individual’s CODIS autosomal STR profile to major world regions as well as hundreds of individual ethnic and national population samples. Results include ranked match likelihood scores based on the frequency of a person’s STR profile within each population and region presented in three analyses:

Native Population Match: Top 20 ranked matches in a database of native populations samples that have experienced minimal movement and admixture in modern history (roughly, the last 500 years). Individual matches do not necessarily indicate recent social or cultural affiliation with a particular ethnicity. Instead, the geographical distribution of Native Population Match results suggests an individual’s most likely deep ancestral origins.

Global Population Match: Top 20 ranked matches in a database of global populations, including native peoples as well as Diaspora groups that expanded from their homelands and sometimes admixed with other populations in recent history. The geographical distribution of Global Population Match results indicates a person’s closest genetic relatives today.

World Region Match: World Region Match provides ranked match scores for over two dozen world regions spanning all continents. This analysis provides a comprehensive view of how a person’s DNA profile is distributed amongst global populations.
