Borzoi

order

Sweet and intelligent, the Borzoi is extremely loyal to its family. They are affectionate to people that they know well. They are hounds, and, as such, tend to be free thinking, and less willing to please their owners than other breeds.

Borzois were originally developed in Russia as hunting and coursing dogs. They are known for both their speed and laidback personality. They are not a high energy dog – preferring a sprint to a long-distance run followed by a rest on their sofa.

Although they have a relaxed attitude, they tend to have a mind of their own and crave human companionship. Borzois are generally gentle but puppies can be too enthusiastic for small children. Adult Borzois can be nervous around children and should be introduced to them at a young age.

As with other sight hound breeds, they are very quick and have no territorial instinct, so they should not be trusted off-leash. They will chase small animals and pretty much anything that moves.

Major Health Concerns: The Borzoi may be sensitive to drugs and anesthesia. They may suffer from a condition identified as Borzoi Retinopathy. They are picky eaters and prone to bloat.

Interesting Fact: The Borzoi is also known as the Russian Wolfhound.

The Beagle is like the kid in class who likes to misbehave. They are very intelligent and have a mind of their own…a sometimes dangerous combination. They are led by their noses and can sometimes dart off in search for the source of an intriguing smell.
